Spoken CTRL Navigation

What is Spoken CTRL navigation?

Spoken CTRL navigation is an accessibility features that enables text-to-speech for paragraph-to-paragraph navigation. Users can move down a paragraph by pressing CTRL-DOWN, or up a paragraph by pressing CTRL-UP, and the contents of the selected paragraph will be spoken.

Why is it useful?

CTRL navigation, the act of moving through a webpage by pressing the CTRL-UP/DOWN combinations, is (in conjunction with Tab navigation) required in almost every accessibility certification process, because it makes navigation so much easier for users with fine motor control fine motor control difficulties.

Spoken CTRL navigation adds an additional layer of accessibility, so that users can listen to the paragraph they’re currently at, without having to perform more complex actions like selecting the text they want spoken.
